HERE COME THE BOYS – JULY 7

The style, flair and panache of three Strictly Come Dancing stars is set to be showcased at Norwich Theatre Royal.

Aljaž Škorjanec, Giovanni Pernice and Gorka Marquez will star in Here Come The Boys which is based in a nightclub setting.

It will see the testosterone-fuelled trio go head-to-head in a battle of Latin, ballroom, commercial and contemporary dance disciplines to a soundtrack of dance-floor hits, club classics and some guilty pleasures played by the show’s resident DJ.

And it will be up to the Theatre Royal audience to judge the contest and decide who is the best.

The show will also feature live vocals from Elizabeth Troy who used to be part of popular chart act Clean Bandit.

It also boasts a strong creative team coming from the producers of the smash-hit dance shows Rip It Up and Remembering Fred, and is co-choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara.

The show takes to the stage on July 7, with tickets going on sale this Friday Jan 18 at 10am. A proportion of seats will also be held for Friends to purchase when the theatre’s next brochure is published in a few weeks.

Each of the production’s three stars cannot wait to head out on tour. Aljaž, who was runner-up in the 2018 Strictly final with Gemma Atkinson, said: “I know we are going to deliver a truly incredible show for audiences all over the UK. While we might all be the best of friends, the show’s competitive elements means that there will be no love lost when we battle it out on the dance-floor to win the audience vote. Serious bragging rights are at stake.”

Co-star Gorka, who partnered Norwich Theatre Royal favourite Alexandra Burke to the 2017 finale, added: “The team behind Here Come The Boys are renowned for producing amazing shows so I didn’t have to think twice about joining the tour. To be touring with Aljaž and Giovanni, who are not only two fantastic dancers but also two of my best mates, is the icing on the cake.”

And Giovanni, who has made it to the final for the last three years most recently with Steps singer Faye Tozer, is also confident of winning the votes of the Norwich audience. He said: “I am so excited to be starring in this show with two of the world’s greatest dancers. It really is a dream team scenario for all of us. I also know Aljaž and Gorka will both want to beat me as they both secretly know I’m the best dancer.”
