Police can confirm the body of a man has been found in the water near Whittingham Lane, Trowse this morning (Saturday 20 March 2021).

Emergency services attended the scene after reports that a body had been seen along the river bank at approximately 8:43am this morning.

Visitors to Whitlingham Lake are asked to be aware that Whittingham Lane, and part of the walkway around the lake has been temporarily closed while emergency services carry out their work.

Police are investigating after the body of a man was discovered in the water near Whitlingham Lane in Trowse on Saturday (20 March 2021).

Officers were called at approximately 8.43am on Saturday after receiving a report that a body had been seen along the river bank. Part of Whitingham Lane and the walkway around the lake was temporarily closed while emergency services attended the scene. The cordon has since been lifted.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a Home Office post mortem is due to take place tomorrow (Tuesday 23 March 2021).

Pending formal Coroner’s inquest proceedings, police have provisionally identified the body of the deceased as James Brownlee, age 25, from Norwich. His family has been informed.
