Police are appealing for information and also raising awareness after a woman was approached and sexually assaulted at Mile Cross Marsh on Monday (20 July) afternoon.

The woman was walking her dog through Sloughbottom Park and onto Mile Cross Marsh when she stopped to sunbath.

After hearing a noise in a nearby bush she saw a man exposing himself, she walked away but he followed behind and put his arms around her before she pushed him off and fled.

The distressing incident happened between 2.30pm and 2.40pm. The man is described as aged around 30, having fair hair and wearing a green jumper and khaki shorts. He is of average build and had bruises and cuts on his face and was holding a beer bottle.
