Two of comedy’s biggest stars are on their way to Norwich Theatre Royal.

Jack Whitehall

Jack Whitehall has announced a visit to the city this autumn as part of his UK tour and Tim Vine will be live on stage next year in a show very different from the stand-up he is best known for.
Award-winning actor, comedian, presenter and writer Jack comes to the Theatre Royal on October 20 this year with tickets going on sale to the general public this Friday (Sept 20) at 10am.
He will give a Norfolk audience a first chance to see him try out his new material ahead of his next arena tour in a show entitled Work In Progress.
Jack is arguably one of Britain’s most high-profile performers at the moment. He is currently starring in Amazon’s drama hit Good Omens and also has a role in the Disney movie Jungle Cruise out next year opposite Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Emily Blunt.
Also widely celebrated for his hit Netflix show Travels With My Father alongside his dad Michael, his other appearances include the BBC’s Decline And Fall and Bad Education, and he has also recently appeared in Disney’s The Nutcracker And The Four Realms.
Jack also remains a much-loved comedian selling out arenas across the UK on his 2014 and 2017 tours as well as bringing his distinctive humour to audiences at the likes of the BRIT Awards and the Royal Variety Performance, for which he became the youngest host in 2015.
Meanwhile next year, Tim Vine brings his Plastic Elvis persona to life in Norwich on June 17 fresh from huge success celebrating his inner Presley at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
He promises to shake, smoulder, try to control his hair and break your heart as he performs some of the King’s biggest hits on a breathless night of rock ‘n’ roll with backing from the High Noon Band and a guest appearance from John Archer as Big Buddy Holly.
Tickets go on public sale for this show on September 27 at 9.30am.
It is a new departure for Tim who is best known for his stand-up comedy career which began in the early Nineties.
TV success followed with comedy with one of his best-known roles in five series of prime-time hit Not Going Out.
His Plastic Elvis persona is now around a year old and gives him the opportunity to perform and celebrate the music of Presley in his own distinctive style.
John Bultitude, of Norwich Theatre Royal, said: “We are expecting Jack’s autumn visit to be one of our hottest comedy tickets. This will be a rare chance to catch his brand new show before he takes it to some of the UK’s biggest arenas and it is a real coup to tempt him to the city.
“Meanwhile the countdown is on for Plastic Elvis to enter the building. Tim Vine’s Presley persona has proved to be a big hit among Edinburgh audiences and his visit to Norwich is sure to leave our audience All Shook Up.”
