A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM – DECEMBER 7-9
An enchanting tale of love, war, fairies, sprites and a play-within-a-play is set to delight audiences as one of William Shakespeare’s best-loved works is brought to life by some of Norfolk’s top young acting talent.
The Norwich Theatre Royal Youth Company will present A Midsummer Night’s Dream on December 7-9 at 7.30pm at Stage Two in Norwich Theatre Royal.
It sees the King and Queen of Fairyland at war and their battle for power is affecting all the mortals.
Lovers, Lords and Ladies, and even the humble artisans are affected by what is going on.
Add in some slightly random rehearsals for an entertainment and the mischief-making of Puck who aims to make sure the course of true love does not always run smoothly, and the stage is set for a magical evening of comedy and romance.
Peter Beck, who is directing the production, said: “A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a feast for the senses, one of Shakespeare’s most engaging and complete plays. Our production takes place over one evening backstage in an abandoned theatre, where our characters create mischief and mayhem amongst the scenery, props and rails of costumes. We have a host of surprises up our sleeve in this production that we hope will both surprise and enchant you”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the latest production from the company which presents a wide range of productions annually. Made up of young people drawn from the theatre’s acting courses, it has been the proving ground for a host of young people from Norfolk who have entered the arts world both on-stage and off.
