Nigel Havers is heading back to Norwich Theatre Royal to star in the multi-award-winning comedy ART opposite Denis Lawson and Stephen Tompkinson on April 23-28. It follows the story of three friends who fall out over the purchase of a piece of art..or is it?

Ahead of its visit, Nigel talks pictures, polishing and perfection with Norwich Eye.

Norwich Eye: What is your favourite work of art?
Nigel Havers: It changes over the years, but I love the work of Andrew Wyeth, who I got to know through my wife and who painted wonderful paintings of Maine. His work is beautiful.
Do you have any pre-show rituals or observe any theatrical superstitions?
I polish my nails on my trousers – I don’t know why. I could happily just turn up at the theatre and go on stage two minutes later.
How do you relax after a show?
Dinner and a drink
The play ART sees the three characters getting steamed up about a painting. What makes your blood boil?
Cyclists. They go through red lights and break all the rules
Which single moment would you if you could freeze-frame forever?
The birth of my daughter. The doctor checked her over and said just one word: ‘perfect.’
And finally, I hear you have some ancestral links to Norwich?
My family is from there originally, so there is a connection. There is even a Havers Road in Norwich.
