Chicago – October 31st to November 5th

Don’t miss out on snapping up tickets for the return of a musical classic en route to Norwich Theatre Royal with a star-studded cast.

Chicago is back from October 31 to November 5 and features three well-known stage and TV names – Hayley Tamaddon, John Partridge and Jessie Wallace.

The show is poised to be a sell-out and anyone who has not already snapped up tickets is being urged to get in touch with the box office now to ensure they can see it.

John Bultitude, of Norwich Theatre Royal, said: “This iconic musical features three very well-known, experienced and accomplished performers. Add in an extremely talented cast and ensemble, and you have the recipe for one of the hottest tickets of the autumn season.
“The production will sell out imminently so get in touch now to make sure you do not miss out on this stunning theatrical production.”

Based on real-life events back in the 1920s, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart who shoots her lover dead and finds herself joining forces with double-murderess Velma Kelly to keep herself off Death Row with the help of super-smooth lawyer Billy Flynn

Taking on the role of Roxie is Hayley Tamaddon who returns to the Theatre Royal stage for the first time since she wowed audiences in the 2011 pantomime Sleeping Beauty. She is best known for her high profile in the TV world with roles including Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street, Delilah Dingle in Emmerdale and winning the fifth series of ITV1’s Dancing On Ice. She also boasts numerous theatre credits including The Lady Of The Lake in Spamalot, and Janet in The Rocky Horror Show, and will appear in the forthcoming Disney film Beauty and the Beast.

Meanwhile the role of super-smooth Billy Flynn is played by John Partridge who is probably best known for playing Christian Clarke in EastEnders and also has a strong West End pedigree with parts including Rum Tum Tugger in Cats in the West End, John in the first national tour of Miss Saigon, and Zach in A Chorus Line at the London Palladium. He was also a judge on the BBC’s Over The Rainbow series which saw a nationwide search for a performer to play Dorothy in a musical version of The Wizard Of Oz.

Co-star Jessie Wallace plays Mama Morton and, although best known for playing Kat Slater in EastEnders, she is also an accomplished stage actress appearing in the likes of Rent Remixed in the West End, Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, and the UK tour of Stepping Out which came to Norwich Theatre Royal back in the autumn of 2009.

Chicago was created by top musical theatre writers Kander and Ebb and the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse and features a host of classic songs including All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle. It has also won a host of awards including six Tony’s, two Olivier’s, two Bafta’s, six Academy Awards and a Grammy.

It first opened at the Adelphi Theatre in the West End in November 1997 to rave reviews, immediately becoming a smash hit and running for 15 years. The show is also currently proving a hit in New York where it holds the record for being the longest-running musical revival and the second longest-running musical in Broadway history.
