Police are investigating a series of arsons in the Mile Cross area of Norwich over the Easter weekend.

Two wheelie bins were set alight in St Mary’s Road between 9pm on Friday 14 April and 2.45am on Saturday 15 April.

A wheelie bin in Greenhills Road was also targeted between 8pm on Friday 14 April and 2am on Saturday 15 April.

A shed was set alight in Vale Green at approximately 12.30am on Saturday 15 April whilst a hedge in Bowers Avenue was targeted a short time later at about 12.50am.

In the most recent incident a hedge was discovered alight in Oxnead Road at approximately 8am yesterday morning (Monday 17 April).

Inspector Nick Hewitt said: “Arson is an extremely serious crime which can not only cause significant damage but it can also threaten lives.

“Officers are currently investigating these incidents and I would urge anyone with information to contact police on 101.

“In the meantime I would urge residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour, or dial 999 if you believe a crime is in progress.”

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the Mile Cross area at the time of the incidents should call the Norwich North Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101.
