Detectives are today questioning two men on suspicion of murder after a man died following an incident at a Wymondham supermarket.

The men, aged 19 and 43, already in police custody were further arrested on suspicion of murder after the victim, a man in his 20s, died yesterday following the incident at Morrisons on Monday night (17 July 2017).

Three people, a 19-year-old woman and two men aged 41 and 42, arrested in connection with the incident have been questioned and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

More than 30 detectives from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team are working on the case and enquiries are continuing today to examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses.

The victim, Nicholas Singh, also known as Nicholas Rogers, was airlifted to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for treatment but died yesterday (18 July). A Home Office post mortem will take place later today.

Detective Chief Inspector Marie James, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, who is leading the investigation, said: “As I said yesterday, this is a fast-paced investigation and we are making good progress. We’ve interviewed several witnesses however we know there were several people in the store when the incident happened and we would be keen to speak to those people who haven’t yet spoken to police.”

Local policing commander, Inspector John Colbert, moved to reassure local residents. He said: “Violent incidents in Wymondham are extremely rare, so with this happening in such a public place, I can totally understand how shocking this must be to the local community.

“Detectives from the Major Investigation Team are leading this enquiry and we can confirm all those involved were known to one-another.

“Officers have been carrying out increased patrols in the area – this includes officers on foot patrol and passing vehicle patrols – to provide that visible reassurance which will continue today.”
