Police have launched an investigation following a fatal stabbing in Thorpe St Andrew, Norwich, earlier today (Friday 19 June 2020).

Officers were called to Yarmouth Road at about 12.45pm following reports a woman had been found with serious injuries.

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended and despite treatment, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man has been arrested in the Warwickshire area on suspicion of murder and will be brought back to Norfolk for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Gray, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Unit, is leading the enquiry.

He said: “A number of police resources, including armed units and a helicopter, were deployed to the scene to help in the search for the suspect.

“Following enquiries, a man was arrested in connection with the incident at about 4pm and will be questioned on suspicion of murder.

“The victim and suspect are known to one another and I would like to hear from anyone who may witnessed the incident or has information concerning it.”

Police have cordoned off the scene in Yarmouth Road while enquiries are carried out.
