An exciting collaboration between Norwich Theatre and Norwich Fringe, Interlude Fringe presents a unique opportunity for local artists and companies to come together for a day of performances on Sunday 13 September 2020. This fringe festival style day will take place at  INTERLUDE, the six-week long programme of live performance in a temporary outdoor venue in Chapelfield Gardens, Norwich, presented by Norwich Theatre and Lost in Translation Circus.

This new event comes at a time when, after a break from Norwich Fringe Festival activity for four years, Norwich Fringe has restarted with a new team behind it. The main aims of Norwich Fringe are to support local creatives and provide a platform for sharing and developing work, through supporting events and not just an annual festival. Norwich Theatre is delighted to be working in collaboration with Norwich Fringe to reconnect us all together in these changing times.

Interlude Fringe will showcase theatre performances from Amplify Theatre Company, Cruyff Turn Theatre Company and REDuck ProDUCKtions. In addition, Titania Trust will also form part of the programme.

Comedy will be presented by Pretty Funny led by Jenny Beake, along with a series of performance poets including Lewis Buxton, Poppy Stevens and James McDermott. The whole line-up will continue to grow and be updated daily via Norwich Theatre’s website and social media channels.

A second stage will be added to the INTERLUDE arena to platform a number of local musicians, with the line-up so far including Salman Toheed and Emily Parish.

Thanks to generous donations made as part of Norwich Theatre’s Crisis Appeal, all ticket sales will go directly to the artists performing and will fund the Acoustic Stage.

Stephen Crocker, Chief Executive of Norwich Theatre, said: “Norwich is a city that has creativity embedded in its DNA like no other and this is what has made INTERLUDE possible. I am so excited that, in addition to the other wonderful local artists and companies who have featured throughout INTERLUDE, we are able to work in collaboration with Norwich Fringe, supporting their work to promote local creatives and bringing together this really special programme showcasing a further selection of our homegrown talent.”

Joseph Ballard, Director of Norwich Fringe, said: “Once again Norwich Theatre has risen to the challenge in these odd times, working in collaboration with us and sharing our ethos of Norwich Fringe to support local performers and profile their work. This is particularly important with the current challenges for the theatre and arts industry in mind. It would be great for the city to come out and support talent from Norwich and Norfolk in this proven safe and accessible way – all under canvas!”

INTERLUDE is presented by Norwich Theatre in partnership with Lost in Translation Circus and supported by Norwich City Council and Norwich BID in association with Aspall.

With most live performance venues currently on hold Interlude Fringe provides a truly unique region-wide cultural collaboration for local artists and performers to share an opportunity to come together.

All performances and activities will be conducted in strict adherence with social distancing rules and latest Government’s guidance, with the big top tent reducing its capacity by approximately two-thirds and audiences seated in ‘bubbles’.
