MY FIRST STORYTIME

As families find they have unexpected spare time and more hours together at home, the Norfolk-based team behind the My First series of shows for younger theatre goers are offering the perfect solution.

They are launching My First Storytime which is available from 4pm today (Thursday March 19) via their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/allinproductionsuk/ or on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwLFA63T0f3esD5q2-t531w. It will let people have the opportunity to enjoy a live performance in their own home via the internet.

It will see some of the performing team from their interactive productions present a daily story which will be aimed at 0-7 year-olds and their older family members. There will be fun, laughter and singing in the videos which will be released regularly.

Daniel Burgess, co-founder of All-In Productions which created the My First concept, said: “It is really tough for families at the moment and, with the current downtime they have, we wanted to provide something for the very young to do and for everyone to have a bit of a distraction.

“People who come to our shows know they are going to have fun and we hope this will allow even more people to smile which we all need to do at the moment.”

Each video will star cast-members from My First Play: After The Storm which was due to run over the Easter holidays at The Garage in Norwich. Although performances of the new show inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest have now been postponed until June 8-13, the actors will instead be performing in the online stories.

Adam Taylor, co-founder of All-In Productions and executive director at The Garage, said: “The entertainment industry is facing uncertain times at the moment. We are passionate about engaging with and supporting people at all stages of their creative journey. We felt this was a great way to both ensure we can continue to provide work for actors while also finding another way for families to be entertained.”

The virtual approach is being taken by others in the entertainment industry. The Suffolk-based Original Theatre Company, which cancelled some performances of the UK tour of The Habit of Art starring Matthew Kelly this week, is going to film a performance behind closed doors and offer it for download.
