Families will again be inspired to love and respect the planet around them, as Norwich City Council’s One Planet Festival returns to the city this Saturday.

The popular environmental event, sponsored this year by energy and services company Engie, will take place on Saturday 8 June at The Forum, with innovative and exciting new activities being introduced for 2019.

Returning favourites include the Cycle Cinema (this year featuring Wallace and Gromit), Mad Science Norfolk and a sustainable fashion show from New-U, while new opportunities include blending a fruit smoothie with Norwich FoodHub and hearing about ocean pollution from a real-life mermaid!

Richard Willson, Environmental Strategy Manager at Norwich City Council, said:

“We are really looking forward to the One Planet Festival again this year, and would like to thank everybody who has contributed to what we’re sure will be a fantastic event.

“We have arranged a hugely varied and engaging programme of events for visitors to enjoy, and we’re sure everyone will pick up some useful tips for how to make a difference.”

Paul Roberts, Managing Director of Home Energy at ENGIE UK, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Norwich City Council at the One Planet Festival. As a business, we are passionate about making a difference to people’s lives.

“By working with communities, we are transforming neighbourhoods, creating more sustainable places and making businesses greener & buildings smarter – enabling businesses, local authorities and individuals to embrace a more efficient and lower carbon world.”

Previous One Planet Norwich events have seen up to 10,000 people in attendance, and this year is expected to be popular once again.
