DINOSAUR WORLD LIVE – October 26 & 27, 2018

Norwich Theatre Royal audiences are invited to grab their compasses and head off on an adventure into the age of the dinosaurs on October 26 & 27.

Dinosaur World, which visited Norwich last August, is an interactive show for all the family – everyone aged three-plus – as they join intrepid explorer Miranda to cross unchartered territories and discover a pre-historic world of astonishing (and remarkably life-like) dinosaurs, including every child’s favourite flesh-eating giant the Tyrannosaurus Rex, as well as a Giraffatitan, Microraptor, Segnosaurus and Triceratops.

Direct from a hugely successful West End summer season, the show is on its third UK tour this autumn, delivering an entertaining and educational live experience that promises to delight the whole family. Each performance is followed by a post-show meet and greet where audience members have the opportunity to see some of the dinosaurs up close and in person.

The show uses stunning puppetry to bring these remarkably life-like creatures to the stage hosted by Miranda, daughter of palaeontologists, who grew up surrounded by dinosaurs on a far-away island off the coast of South America.

Dinosaur World is written and directed by Derek Bond (Sweet Charity, Manchester Theatre Awards 2017 winner, Little Shop of Horrors Manchester Royal Exchange), while the creative team includes puppet designer Max Humphries (National Theatre, Royal Opera House, Cirque de Soleil), puppet director Laura Cubitt (who worked on Don Quixote for the RSC; War Horse for NT Berlin, and Running Wild at Chichester Festival Theatre) and puppetry consultant Toby Olié (Toby was the original hind puppeteer of Joey in War Horse and one half of the Gyre and Gimble team who designed the animals for Running Wild which delighted Norwich audiences in May last year).

Set and costume design is by James Perkins, lighting design by John Maddox and sound design by Tom Mann.

Dinosaur World is performed by Elizabeth Mary Williams (Miranda), Samantha Arends (Puppeteer), Darcy Collins (Puppeteer), Alexandra Harman (Understudy Miranda/ Puppeteer), Chris Milford (Puppet Technician/Puppeteer) and Liam Wright (Puppeteer). The show is produced by NICOLL Ltd.

Judy Foster, of Norwich Theatre Royal, said: “Children and adults will be captivated by these large creatures from the distant past. Dino-lovers are urged to book fast before tickets become extinct!”
