As part of the campaign to get more people to choose the bus, Norfolk County Council is offering young people in the Swaffham area discounted travel on the flexibus+ service.
Young people aged 5-19 who want to travel in the flexibus+ zone will benefit from the discounted price of just £1.50 for two trips. The offer is available for the six-week summer holidays (25 July – 3 September) when journeys are booked via the flexibus+ app.
The Swaffham flexibus+ service is funded by the Department for Transport’s Rural Mobility Fund, and provided in partnership by Norfolk County Council and Vectare transport solutions. The bus covers a zone totalling 85 square miles, with stops in Swaffham as well as 20 villages and hamlets in the surrounding area.
Cllr Fabian Eagle, County Councillor for the Brecks division, said: “I’m thrilled that the flexibus+ service has been such a success in my local area – providing people with a great flexible transport solution. Since its launch in March almost 2000 journeys have been made on the flexibus+ and by offering this discount throughout the summer we hope to encourage more young people to use the service. My children and nephew have already used the service many times and i’m sure they will take full advantage of this offer throughout the summer. It’s a great way for them travel to see friends who live in nearby villages or to get to Swaffham for a day in town or to catch connecting buses to King’s Lynn or Norwich.”
