Art Fair East has opened its doors to the public at St Andrews Hall, Norwich. With visitors flocking through the doors organisers are predicting a record breaking attendance. Will Teather, co-founder of Art Fair East, said: ‘The response from the public has been extraordinary. So far today (Friday) we’ve had 1,000 people through the door so I think I can confidently predict we’ll have over 1,500 by the end of the day – a significant increase on 2015. At last night’s launch event we had over 900 people, s breaking last year’s record of 750. We are very pleased and somewhat relieved it is finally here!

Will continued ‘It’s very rare for so many figures from the art-world to be gathered in one place – especially in Norfolk. We aimed to bring the kind of event you would normally only see in London to our doorstep, and I think we’ve done it. Our second year sees returning exhibitors and many artists who have never been seen in the region before.’

The fair sees well known galleries and artists from Norfolk, alongside artists from Lebanon, America, London and across the UK. Highlights include limited signed editions by famous names such as Banksy being shown in the region for the first time.

The fair was founded by arts professionals Will Teather and Brian Korteling, who will also be displaying their own artworks.

Will Teather is well-known for creating paintings that combine an unusual imagination with a mastery of traditional skills. The artist’s paintings often depict curious characters caught up in extraordinary situations. He has featured in exhibitions and publications internationally, received numerous grants and scholarships and been a finalist in international art prizes. He has been Artist-in-Residence for venues in New York, Aberdeen and Norfolk and is currently the Visual Artist in Residence for Norwich Arts Centre.

Brian Korteling award-winning visual artist, designer and curator. He has recently won prizes at Paint Out Norwich and The River Waveney Sculpture Trail.
