COME DANCE WITH ME – SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER

An epic and warm-hearted family saga brimming with ballroom dancing is on its way to Norwich Playhouse.

Come Dance With Me tells the story of two battling sisters who have their individual hopes and ambitions. Lillian wants to be a professional dancer while Joy wants to acquire a string of shops.

While they both have clear dreams, they go on a journey to get what they want.
Taking to the stage on September 28, this dark but funny play tackles topics like disability, loss, and the difficulty of being a young carer who has to put their dreams on hold.

The production will star Sam Archer who made his professional debut at the age of 12 in Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Oliver! at the London Palladium.
He has also appeared in a number of productions for Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures including Edward Scissorhands, Swan Lake and The Red Shoes, as well as UK stage tours, and TV roles in Mr Selfridge and Humans.

He will star opposite Steph Elstob who has also worked for New Adventures and appeared in Victoria on ITV, and the show’s co-author Karen Lynne.

The production also boasts some remarkable and show-stopping dancing created by Strictly Come Dancing choreographer Richard Marcel, who has worked with the likes of Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Olivia Colman.

And it has been created by the Ipswich-based Missing Pieces Theatre Show which tours nationally with a passion to tell strong stories about real life.
The show has also won high-level support from the professional ballroom dancer and Strictly judge Len Goodman. He said: “I urge you to support this play Come Dance With Me. It shows how a working-class kid has to battle to make it in the world of ballroom. This story could have been my story, and it is about anyone who struggles against disadvantage to find their success in the world.”
