Residents can support renewable energy and potentially save money on their fuel bills by signing up now to Norwich Big Switch and Save.

For the first time in the five-year history of the council-run collective switching scheme, two renewable energy providers offered the cheapest deals in the recent ‘energy auction’. This gives those that switch the opportunity to choose a ‘green’ energy supplier as well as save money on energy bills.

Since its launch, Norwich Switch and Save has given thousands of households a better deal, with the average saving coming in at £240 a year. Those who have not switched recently are even more likely to make significant savings.

Cllr Karen Davis, Norwich City Council cabinet member with responsibility for fuel poverty said:

“Council-run collective switching schemes such as Norwich Switch and Save provide a safe and easy way for residents to find out if they could pay less for their energy.”

I’m delighted that we have renewable energy providers in our scheme this year. Saving money on fuels bills and helping the environment – what a perfect combination!”

Residents who have not yet signed up have until the 20 March to do so, and will receive an instant offer, which they can then decide if they want to accept.

Norwich’s Big Switch and Save is open to all homes and businesses in the city, including households on pre-payment meters.
