A photo album containing images of an elderly man’s entire Navy career has been stolen during a burglary in Reedham.

A property in Station Road was broken into between 10am on Saturday 4 November and 11am on Monday 6 November.

Cash was stolen along with a photo album which contains pictures of the victim in his Navy uniform, the ships he served on and images of the atomic bomb on Christmas Island in 1957.

The album is from China and has a black shellac cover.

DC Gill Dawson at Great Yarmouth CID said: “Whilst any burglary can be traumatic, to have such a sentimental piece of property stolen is devastating for the victim.

“The photo album illustrates the victim’s entire Navy career and features pictures of the ships he served on including HMS Perseus, HMS Saint, HMS Comus, HMS Cossack, HMS Undine, HMS Rocket, HMS Carysfort and HMS Indefatigable.

“I am keen to see the victim reunited with his historic records and would urge anyone who may have any information about the burglary, or the whereabouts of the photo album, to contact police.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Gill Dawson at Great Yarmouth CID on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
